Enjoy The Ride

Kenny Ryan once said, ~Facebook is the Disneyland of the internet.~ Without a doubt, one of the most or THE most popular "attractions" in the world of social networking is Facebook and each time you log on you never know what you're going to encounter making it at times a truly enjoyable experience. For it’s an experience in which you in all intents and purposes "step" into a world where you can spend hours on end reading the high/lows of everyday life, posting notes, adding friends, unfriending, tagging photos, poking people, etc. I think we can all fully agree that many of us have become highly addicted to the nonstop entertainment each one of us gets from the countless number of interesting people who we personally consider as our friends.

As said before, you never really know what you're going to encounter each time you log into Facebook, especially after updating your status message. In some aspect, one's status message is like a proverbial public announcement system where instead of verbally announcing your activities for your friends to hear, they read it. It's a humorous situation indeed as there are times where you tend not to think about what you're going to write and as soon as you share it for others to the point where the "news" spreads like wildfire. Let me tell you something, I've had more of my friends/family message/text/call/ talk to me in person concerning status messages concerning my social life in regards to hanging out with a female, which is apparently interesting news for curious people out there.

If you think about it, one of the things we all tend to do from time to time while in Disney is people watch and you can't help but be fascinated by such a diverse group of people to where you're either in utter disbelief or totally amused. Thinking about it, we all have the comfort of people watching as classmates, co-workers, and long time friends who we've known for quite some time post and share videos giving us a glimpse into their life with family, as well as friends. You see, it’s within those videos you witness the happiness of unveiling a new addition to the family, a baby's first words/steps, family having fun singing karaoke, showing off a new pet, sharing their skydiving experience, friends just being stupid together, or whatever the case may be.

Let me ask you this question for those who have been to Disney, what do you most look forward to when you go? If you said the rides you would be 100% correct. Space Mountain, It's A Small World, Splash Mountain, Rock and Roll Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. are rides we've all stood in line for. Essentially, there are a plethora of "rides" on Facebook you don't have to stand in line for that suit individual tastes none of which I am currently riding on, so to speak, so please stop sending me invites...but I digress. In any case, you can witness for yourself firsthand not only the popularity of these particular rides, but the all out intense fervency for "rides" such as Cafeworld, Farmville, Castle Age, Pet Society, Yoville, Sorority Life, and Mafia Wars which is pretty intense to say the least.

In retrospect, facebook is one huge amusement park where you can play to your heart's content. Its a place where dreams can possibly come true by way of networking in order to find a career/job, chat with old friends/classmates, get up-to-date on reunions, become fans of particular people, places, or things, share in causes like Haiti relief, and make connections both literally and figuratively with certain people. Hey, we all spend time in this place, some more than others, to where we end up eventually feeling like 5 of 7 dwarves in which we can be Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Dopey and have moments of being intellectual like Doc. In the end, the one thing we can take out of being on the popular attraction known as facebook is you don't have to pay for anything so have fun and enjoy the ride.
